Coco's Contraption
Coco demonstrates his new automatic package-delivery cart in the village square, but it goes haywire and scatters goods everywhere; Ramón helps clean up without judgment, and together they improve the design.

Morning in the Square
Morning tiptoes into the village square. Golden sunbeams stretch through the great ceiba tree, painting patches of light on the old cobblestones below. The little stone fountain hums its quiet song — trickle, trickle, trickle. Two yellow butterflies chase each other past the colorful houses, whose shutters creak open one by one. The air smells of warm earth and ripe fruit. It is going to be a very good day.

Ramón Opens Shop
Ramón pushes open his wooden shutters with a cheerful creak. He sets out crates of ripe mangoes, golden and sweet-smelling, and little sacks of dark coffee beans. He hops up onto the edge of his counter, pushes his spectacles into place, and looks out over the square. His tail curls upward like a happy little question mark. Everything is just where it should be.

Ramón
Young shopkeeper, village social hub · Cuban Brown Anole
Ramón just took over the village general store and he's determined to prove he's got what it takes. This young brown anole with the oversized spectacles and the sharpest tongue in Veguitas turns every transaction into a performance — but behind all the bravado, he'd give you the last bag of rice off his shelf and swear he was just clearing inventory.

Coco's Grand Entrance
Bounce, bounce, bounce! Here comes Coco the tree frog, hopping into the square with a rope in one hand. Behind him rattles the most wonderful, strange little cart you ever saw — wooden wheels, spinning gears, curly springs, and a tiny canvas sail on top. Coco puffs out his chest and chirps loudly. He waves one arm toward his invention as if to say: look what I made!

Coco
Inventive tinkerer, problem-solver · Tree Frog
Coco is the village inventor — a bright green tree frog who spends his days tinkering with wild contraptions in his workshop. His ideas don't always work on the first try, but his boundless energy and never-give-up spirit make every attempt an adventure. When he's not bouncing between projects, you'll find him helping friends with his latest creation.

The Demonstration Begins
Coco parks the cart right beside the fountain and loads it up with small wrapped packages from Ramón's shop. Over at the counter, Ramón tilts his head and slides his spectacles down his snout. He peeks over the rims with one narrowed eye. His tail flicks slowly — not so sure about this. But Coco pulls his goggles down, sticks out the tip of his tongue, and rests his hands on a big wooden lever. Ready!

Three Seconds of Glory
Coco pulls the lever. The gears whir. The little sail catches the breeze — poof! — and the cart rolls forward across the sunny cobblestones, smooth as a river stone. Coco throws his arms wide and chirps with delight. Over at the shop, Ramón leans forward, eyes big and round. His dewlap puffs out just a little. Even he is impressed. For three beautiful seconds, everything works perfectly.

Something Goes Wrong
Then — clunk! One wheel bumps a raised cobblestone. The cart jolts. A spring goes boing and pops right out of the machine. The sail spins sideways. The cart swerves hard to the left, and the launcher flings a package high, high into the air. Coco's big eyes grow even bigger. His mouth falls open. He reaches for the cart, but it is already rolling away, wobbling and rattling.
The story deepens…

Chaos Unfolds
The cart spirals around the square like a dizzy beetle! Packages fly left and right. Mangoes splash into the fountain — plop, plop, plop! A sack of coffee beans bursts against the ceiba tree and beans scatter everywhere like tiny brown marbles. Coco hops after the cart, slips on a mango — whooooa! — arms windmilling wildly. The little sail catches more wind, and the cart goes even faster. Ramón ducks behind his counter just in time.

Peak Pandemonium
The cart makes one last wobbly loop around the fountain. Its sail catches on a low ceiba branch and rrrip — tears right off. The cart bumps gently into a market stall and stops. The last packages tumble out in a heap. And then… quiet. The fountain trickles. A coffee bean rolls slowly across the cobblestones. The square is a glorious mess, but everything is still at last.

Coco's Sheepish Moment
Coco stands right in the middle of it all. Coffee grounds dust his apron. A ripe mango sits on top of his head. He pushes his goggles up slowly and looks around at the scattered packages, the splashy fountain, the coffee bean trails. He rubs the back of his head and gives a small, sheepish grin. His shoulders droop just a little. He really, truly thought it would work this time.

Ramón Arrives Without Judgment
Ramón hops down from behind his counter and walks right over. He does not frown. He does not shake his head. He just gives Coco a warm, easy grin and pats him gently on the shoulder. Then he picks up a scattered package, dusts it off, and holds it up. His tail curls into a calm little question mark, as if to say: shall we fix this together? Coco looks up, and his eyes brighten.

Cleaning Up Together
They get to work — together. Ramón scoops mangoes from the fountain while Coco gathers packages. They stack, sort, and wring out one soggy little parcel. Then Ramón flicks a coffee bean across the square — ping! Coco hops and catches it right out of the air. They both grin. Cleaning up is a lot more fun with a friend. Bit by bit, the square looks like itself again.
As the day unfolds…

Examining What Went Wrong
With the square tidy, they crouch beside the crashed cart. Coco points to the popped spring and waves his hands fast, explaining how everything went haywire. Ramón pushes his spectacles up and studies the wheels carefully. His tongue darts out once — he is thinking hard. Then he taps the axle and makes a wide, steadying gesture with both hands. Bigger base. More balance. Coco's eyes light up. Of course!

Improving the Design Together
Under the ceiba tree's cool shade, they rebuild the cart together. Ramón holds the panels steady while Coco tightens bolts with his tongue poking out in concentration. Ramón suggests a wider wheelbase — he shows it with his hands, far apart. Coco chirps and makes the change. They swap the big sail for a smaller one. Ramón's steady hands and Coco's clever fingers — together, they make a wonderful team.

The Second Test
They load a few test packages and stand side by side. Coco clasps his hands under his chin, eyes wide, up on his tiptoes. Ramón crosses his arms and gives a calm, confident nod. Coco pulls the lever — gently this time. The cart rolls forward. The smaller sail catches just a puff of breeze. The wheels track straight and steady across the cobblestones. It reaches Ramón's counter and stops with a soft bump.

Celebration
It works! Coco leaps into the air, chirping so loudly that the butterflies scatter. Ramón's dewlap puffs out bright and proud. He grabs Coco's hand and shakes it hard — congratulations! They bounce together, laughing without a single word. Coco points to the cart, then points to Ramón, as if to say: we did this. Ramón gives a humble little shrug, but his tail curls into a tall, proud exclamation mark.

Golden Morning Glow
The two friends sit side by side on the warm stone fountain. The square is tidy. The cart is parked neatly in the shade. Golden morning light spills over everything like honey. Coco rests his chin on his hands and gazes at their creation with a soft, happy smile. Ramón writes a little note in his ledger — perhaps the first order for the new delivery cart. Neither one says a word. They don't need to.
